The 'Welcome Reception' was originally intended to be an informal gathering at the hotel with the crew paying individually for drinks and food, but because of the number of people attending in 2024, we may need more room. *We will be in the hotel bar area and pay individually if we have 35 or less. A paid event at The Butcher Shop next door is the best option for a larger group; they are offering a great Taco Bar for $53.20 per person in a banquet room.

We have the entire 80’ vessel, Legacy, for a three-hour whale watching cruise. Bring a camera! We are paying one flat price, which means the more people that attend, the cheaper the cost is per person. I will collect $48.00 and refund money at the event if possible. Maximum capacity is 130. Sammies by the Sand, a Navy veteran-owned business, will offer food for under $30.00.

USS MIDWAY MUSEUM - 910 North Harbor Drive 92101
On April 11, 1992 the Midway was decommissioned in San Diego and remained in storage in Bremerton, Washington until 2003 when it was donated to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum organization. It opened as the USS Midway Museum in June 2004. They recommend at least three or four hours onboard to get the most out of the experience. Their exhibits can be found here.

After our tour of the USS Midway, we’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Embarcadero for 10 minutes (it's just a short 0.3 miles) to Seaport Village. If you prefer to ride, Lyft is also an option. Seaport Village has 54 one-of-a-kind shops, and over 15 dining eateries. For lunch, we will enjoy a special offer at Mike Hess Brewing, a Navy veteran-owned business. They will include extra food to go along with one flat price for our group. Price above is for 25 people. It would be $36.00 if we have 30, $31.00 if we have 35, and so on. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 2 - FAREWELL EVENT

A ‘Goodbye’ get-together for whoever has stayed through Wednesday. We will be enjoying food and drinks at San Diego’s oldest tavern. The Waterfront was opened in 1933; the year prohibition was repealed. Most meals are under $15.00. You are responsible for your own drinks, food, and tips. Let me know if you will be here.
TRANSPORTATION
Unless otherwise mentioned, transportation will be provided to/from reunion events for those staying at the official hotel. The cost will depend on the number of people needing transportation. Quotes I receive for transportation are always high, so personal vehicles are used whenever possible. Will you have a vehicle? Let me know if you have seats available. Using my personal vehicle, I do my best to shuttle people from the airport to and from the hotel.
FREE TIME
If interested, we could visit K1 Speed and battle it out on the track, or we can take swings at the local miniature golf course. How about throwing out our shoulders while playing frisbee golf? See OPTIONAL EVENTS below.

11 miles from the hotel. Play the same course where Tiger Woods won a Junior World title in 1984. This is the only golf course in San Diego with night lighting; lights are turned off at 2200. For the executive golf course and disc golf course information, please go here. The last reservable time is 2000. **players who tee off after 1800 may not finish all 18 holes. Club and disc rental is available.
